Okay, real talk?
I used to think “practicing gratitude” meant listing ten poetic blessings every night in a leather journal… herbal tea in one hand, incense burning in the background, mentally skipping through wildflower fields of self-awareness while pondering how to be the change.
Beautiful? Yes.
Realistic every day? Not quite.
That full production version of gratitude shows up maybe on a new moon… or right after I’ve cried, saged the whole house, had a breakthrough, and remembered I’m a radiant being of light with bills to pay.
The rest of the time? I’m a beautifully messy human juggling healing work, real-life chaos, and the eternal mystery of why the clean laundry still isn’t folded. (I swear I’ll get to it after I rest my eyes for five minutes…)
So here’s the real-life version:
Look around you right now — just pick one thing.
Could be your coffee mug, a blanket, your phone charger, a plant that’s half-thriving.
And simply think, or say aloud, “Thank you.”
That’s it.
No need to overthink it or over-feel it. Just notice something and whisper a thank you… not because it’s life-changing, but because it’s part of your now.
That one second? It gently rewires your mood, shifts your energy, and brings you back to now — where everything you need is still unfolding, even if socks are still on the floor.
Tiny thank-yous = big energy shifts.
It’s not about pretending life is all rainbows.
It’s about reminding yourself you’re alive. You’re here. And that is worth celebrating.
You don’t have to do gratitude perfectly.
You just have to do it real.
